In 2020 and 2021, I experienced my lowest of lows due to the raging COVID pandemic as well as my mother’s diagnosis of and journey through late-stage ovarian cancer. In these years, I truly felt that my life had been turned upside down and that my pillars of family, purpose, and identity had begun to crumble. I questioned my calling to the profession of dentistry. COVID and familial health crises had been clouding my original desire to be a servant of God’s Kingdom and for His People. But God has always been faithful to me and opened doors. How selfish and unfaithful would it be for me to walk away from the doors I had so desperately prayed for to be opened? I am grateful to say that my mother is healthy and well as she continues her fight against cancer and that I, myself, have found joy amidst the rigors of school. I plan to pursue further education in Orthodontics with an additional specialization in craniofacial deformities as I derive meaning from instilling confidence and wisdom in a younger patient population. Thank you again to the staff, donors, and supporters of the Zion Mountain Foundation for your investment in me and fellow scholarship recipients. I’m wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. God bless!

From a young age, I knew I wanted to explore the world. My childhood as a daughter of missionaries spent moving around Asia and the U.S. helped shape my curiosity for the great wonders around the world. My faith and the experiences I carry with me from my childhood throughout college have been invaluable in shaping my global perspective and firm belief that in an increasingly connected world, each community and country has so much to learn from and to share with each other. I am currently pursuing my Master of Public Health at the University of Southern California and am in the process of applying to medical school. My heart races in excitement at the endless possibilities of where this road will take me–leading efforts to improve hygiene and sanitation systems in rural villages, tracing the next epidemic, or serving as a first responder to natural disasters and war crises. Through public health and medicine, I desire to use my experiences and skillset to share Christ's love with communities around the world. To all who support ZMF, thank you for your generosity and desire to support students through their education. Blessings to you all!

I am incredibly grateful that Zion Mountain Foundation (ZMF) has awarded me a scholarship for the 3rd consecutive year. With the financial aid and scholarships provided by generous foundations such as ZMF, I am able to pursue my dream of working in the medical field. It is a tremendous honor and privilege to not only have the financial support of ZMF but also be a part of this God-honoring foundation. As a pre-med student at the University of Southern California, I had the wonderful opportunity of shadowing Dr. Ahn this past summer, and seeing the impact that he has had in saving patient’s lives as a Cardiologist. Going forwards, I cannot wait to participate in medical missions to underserved areas such as China, Cambodia, and Haiti with physicians, the ZMF staff and other health professionals. I also hope to develop relationships with other young Christian leaders through ZMF to raise leaders and develop a love for medical missions to bring glory to God. Thank you Zion Mountain Foundation for investing in the raising of young Christian leaders.

One year ago, I fulfilled my longtime goal of becoming a high school math teacher at a private school. However, it wasn’t until almost at the end of the year that I received a calling from God to expand my vocation as a ministry. My calling as a Christian educator was realized through the process of God leading me to be a seminary student at Biola’s Talbot School of Theology. In this day and age where the only thing certain is that all is uncertain, I am convicted that God started His good will in my life to bring it to completion. He instilled in me compassion and desire for my high school students and their community to thrive and be transformed through discipleship. Over this past semester during COVID-19 emergency, God showed me heartbreaking situations with my students and their broken families that was especially highlighted during distance learning. While teaching full-time, I hope to be used as a vessel during this unprecedented time to support my students in a biblical way. In order for that, ZMF has bestowed a scholarship for me last year to start my studies as a seminary student for Pastoral Care and Counseling. Thank you for your consideration and support.

I am so grateful for the opportunities and community Zion Mountain Foundation has provided me. God has been guiding me through different experiences and mentors to fully equip me to carry out His plans for me. It has been an incredible blessing meeting leaders who challenge me to heal God’s children through ministry and medicine. ZMF has given me the chance to meet doctors doing exactly what I want to be doing in the medical mission field in the future. God has shown His faithfulness to me every step of the way through this opportunity. Thank you ZMF for your generosity and for showing me a glimpse of heaven on earth.
